Macromedia Flash
Course Length: (2 days or 14 hours)
The students learn about the fundamentals, features and capabilities of Macromedia Flash.
Course Topics:

Lesson 1: Learning Flash Basics

The instructor will explain the concepts and using the instructor's computer will demonstrate the following features for the students: 

  • Getting Started, Getting Help, Setting Preferences
  • Working with Panels, Using Keyboard Shortcuts
  • Modifying the Document Properties, Testing a Movie

  Lesson 2: Adding Graphics and Text

The instructor will explain the concepts and using the instructor's computer will demonstrate the following features for the students:   

  • Exploring the Drawing Tools, Drawing Basic Shapes
  • Modifying Strokes and Fills, Creating a Group
  • Using Layers, Adding Text

Lesson 3: Using Symbols and the Library

The instructor will explain the concepts and using the instructor's computer will demonstrate the following features for the students:  

  • Importing Bitmaps, Creating a Symbol
  • Using the Library, Opening an Existing Movie As a Library
  • Using Instances, Editing Symbols and Groups
  • Using the Movie Explorer
Lesson 4: Creating Animation

The instructor will explain the concepts and using the instructor's computer will demonstrate the following features for the students: 

  • Creating a Basic HTML Form, Using Server-side Form Validation
  • Creating a Frame-by-Frame Animation, Extending Still Images
  • Creating a Motion Tween, Using a Mask
  • Using a Motion Guide, Creating a Shape Tween
  • Adding Shape Hints

 

Lesson 5: Adding Basic Interactivity

The instructor will explain the concepts and using the instructor's computer will demonstrate the following features for the students: 

  • Exploring the Actions Panel, Using Actions to Control the Timeline
  • Creating a Button, Adding Actions to a Button Instance
  • Creating a Template, Using ActionScript to Open a Web Page

Lesson 6: Using Sound and Video

The instructor will explain the concepts and using the instructor's computer will demonstrate the following features for the students: 

  • Using Conditional Logic, Using <cf switch>, Working with Loops
  • Importing Sounds, Adding Sounds to the Timeline
  • Modifying Sound Properties, Adding Sounds to a Button
  • Customizing Sound Effects, Importing Video
  Lesson 7: Programming with ActionScript
The instructor will explain the concepts and using the instructor's computer will demonstrate the following features for the students:   
  • Using Variables, Using Arrays, Using the TextField Object
  • Working with Loops in ActionScript, Using MovieClip Methods and Event Handlers
  • Using a Conditional Statement

Lesson 8: Using Components

The instructor will explain the concepts and using the instructor's computer will demonstrate the following features for the students: 

  • Adding Input Text Boxes, Adding Components
  • Using the ComboBox Component, Using the Check Box Component
  • Using the PushButton Component, Customizing a Component Skin
  • Setting a Component Style
Lesson 9: Creating Dynamic Content

The instructor will explain the concepts and using the instructor's computer will demonstrate the following features for the students: 

  • Setting Up the Map, Loading Variables from a Data Source

  • Displaying Dynamic Content, Using the ScrollBar Component

  • Disabling a Component, Sending Data to the Server

Lesson 10: Creating Dynamic Content

The instructor will explain the concepts and using the instructor's computer will demonstrate the following features for the students: 

  • Printing from the Flash Player Contextual Menu
  • Disabling the Print Command, Printing with ActionScript
  • Specifying a Print Area

 

Lesson 11: Optimizing A Flash Content

The instructor will explain the concepts and using the instructor's computer will demonstrate the following features for the students: 

  • Using the Bandwidth Profiler, Optimizing Assets
  • Exporting Flash Movies, Loading Movies, Loading JPEG Images

 

Lesson 12: Publishing a Flash Website

The instructor will explain the concepts and using the instructor's computer will demonstrate the following features for the students: 

  • Creating a Preloader, Creating Programmatic Movement
  • Publishing a Movie, Getting Your Movie on the Web
